Aims: Neurological injuries have increased in recent years, neurological physical therapies are really important in the rehabilitation of these patients. The objective is to identify the most important techniques that the physical therapist used in the neurological rehabilitation and how these help to improve the quality of life.
Methods: In different country there have been several studies which demonstrated that the rate of neurological injuries cases increased in the population. Two hundred and fifty questionnaires were sent to patients suffering form neurological injury in four hospitals in Chile to measure the different techniques used in their rehabilitation and if these techniques improve their quality of life.
Results: Two hundred questionnaires were return from four hospitals. 60% of the patients reported that the physical therapies used in their treatments rehabilitation applied the techniques described in the Concept Bobath, in the Kabat Concept, in the Le Metayer method, the equivalence motor, the training of the balance and the mobilization of the articulations. 80% of the patient reported that the treatment of their injuries with physiotherapy techniques helped them to improve their quality of life.
Conclusions: The most important thing in rehabilitation is that the patient has the desire to do the treatments. The physical therapist helps to reach a motor development which allows the patient the maximum functional independence in activities of daily life as best as possible. These treatments improve the quality of life and the encouragement of the patients to address the rehabilitation.
